Train with us. Grow with us.
Pasadena Clinical Group offers practicum and internship placements for doctoral psychology students (PsyD and PhD) who want hands-on experience in adult ADHD group therapy in a community-based outpatient setting.
Our training philosophy
We believe the best therapists are made through supervised practice, honest feedback, and exposure to a wide range of clinical presentations — not just from textbooks. Our practicum students co-facilitate group sessions, carry a small individual caseload, and participate in weekly supervision with licensed psychologists who have decades of experience.
You don’t just observe. You do the work, with support every step of the way.
What you’ll learn
- Group therapy facilitation — Co-lead ADHD skills groups of 6 to 10 adults, learning to manage group dynamics, keep sessions structured, and build therapeutic momentum across weeks.
- ADHD-specific interventions — Develop competence in executive function coaching, behavioral activation, emotion regulation techniques, and practical accountability structures designed for the ADHD brain.
- Individual therapy integration — Carry a small caseload of individual therapy clients with ADHD and common co-occurring conditions like anxiety, depression, and burnout.
- Multicultural competence — Work with clients from diverse cultural, linguistic, and socioeconomic backgrounds across Los Angeles. Learn to adapt evidence-based interventions for the communities you serve.
- Professional development — Weekly individual supervision, group case consultation, and didactic seminars on topics ranging from ethics to private practice operations.
Supervision approach
Supervision at Pasadena Clinical Group is developmental — meaning we meet you where you are. First-year practicum students receive more structured guidance. Advanced students take on greater clinical autonomy. Across all levels, supervision includes:
- Weekly one-on-one supervision with a licensed clinical psychologist
- Live observation and co-facilitation opportunities in group settings
- Audio/video review of sessions (with client consent)
- Case conceptualization Discussion grounded in multiple theoretical orientations
- Regular written feedback and goal-setting
